ENCOURAGE YOUR SONS & DAUGHTERS
DEAR PADREs...
Very. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nyutu is the Rector of St. Joseph Junior Seminary- Molo...he holds Masters in Linguistic and Literature.
Following the anxiety of the 2021 KCPE results and thereafter the KCSE, many parents and guardians wish to see the best fruit of their "fees", how their sons and daughters will repay them...Fr. Thomas has given advice to many on how to handle these "talented queens and kings", that even in their "failure" , they have much to do in the society...
FROM VERY. REV. FR. THOMAS NYUTU
Kindly allow me to beg your indulgence on a pertinent issue:
KCPE results will be out soon.
Please, _let us purpose to be the voice of the downtrodden._
After the results are announced, for quite some time the whole society will be up in arms against the poor boys and girls whose KCPE results will not hit the society's definition of succeeding.
These are our C sons and D daughters.
The media, _mainstream as well as social,_ will pile so much praise and accolades to those who have _"passed with flying colours,"_ so much to the effect that the others whose marks were *less than deemed good enough* will feel like failures.
They are not.
They will not be failures.
No!
Unless their parents declare them so.
Unless their parents do not fight for their self esteem, these are success stories.
In this _academic test,_ they may not have produced all the right answers. But they are success stories.
We all know there are limitations to academic tests.
Padre, could you please let them know, from the holy precincts, that they are the children of a successful Father?
A prodigal (extravagant) Father!
Could you kindly remind their parents* that they hold the translation of the marks their children will get?
That only they have the power to pronounce, as the true prophets that they are to their children, prophecies of success for their children?
Padre, you have been granted a special opportunity in that society:
Talk for the disappointed children; as much as possible, talk to those of our sons and daughters who will score 227 marks......
They need you now, more than ever.
It is okay to take pride in the 400s and 350s, yes; and if you really must, share the success of the 300s and 400s.
But please remember: the 200s and 170s, these more than any other, are your true children.
They really are!
They call you Father.
It is for times like these that you are their father.
Father them.
Share the success of the 100s and 200s as well.
If you can, share this success even more than the 400s.
In any case, when the 400s go to prestigious institutions, and some eventually to overseas, your children will stay with you.
Reserve the best of your energies for these.
Blessings.
